The Area 83 Governor is Elbert Thompson

Born in Nassau, Bahamas, in 1973, Toastmaster Elbert Thompson is a well-known and accomplished speaker, journalist and realtor. He has been an active member of Toastmasters International since 1996.  From his first meeting TM Thompson  knew he had found something special at Action for Achievement, Club 1095. He has held various leadership positions in the club including Vice-President of Public Relations, Vice-President of Education and President. His educational achievements include attaining his Competent Communicator, Advanced Communicator – Bronze, Competent Leader and Advanced Leader- Silver awards. From 1999 to 2005, TM Thompson was a frequent and successful competitor in speech contests in the Bahamas and Florida. He has represented his club, area, division to compete at the District level in both the Evaluation and Table Topics contests. Currently serving as the Area 83 Governor in Division I, TM Thompson is once again aiming for no less than a win and President’s Distinguished Area status.

TM Thompson earned an Associate of Arts degree (Honours) in Computer Science from The College of The Bahamas, a Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude) in Business Systems and Mass Communications from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, and a Master of Business Administration (summa cum laude) from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He considers his career highlight to be, "meeting people of varied backgrounds and finding out their passion for life”. His passions include travelling, photography, writing and public speaking -- all part of his declared mission to "enlighten and communicate truth to the world."
